Mektub sent by Receb Paşa to the beylerbeyi, defterdar, kadı and ağa of the janissaries of Cyprus regardingmaltreatment of the Venetian merchants arriving in Cyprus with salt. Some of the merchant were imprisoned, some of their goods were confiscated and they were demanded more customs fee than regularly determined fees. The letter indicates that the beylerbeyi of Cyprus was the one who is responsible for encouraging the local officials (emins) to harass the Venetian merchants. The Ottoman officials addressed are ordered to obey the ahdname and treat the Venetian merchants and officials accordingly.
